The need and focus of our town centres throughout the country are rapidly changing. They are increasingly becoming more residential.
Our aim is to support people who are 'first timers' who need somewhere to live. Equally, our aim is to support the elderly residents who seek to downsize. We therefore want to develop an integrated series of residential and retail spaces that allow people to live among the amenities of the town centre.
Our vision is to create an urban plan, linking the Waterloo Centre to the Community Centre. The vision includes three Squares; Church Square is the first of these and was completed in June 2022. Our next phase is the Market Square and this will be done in collaboration with East Suffolk Council. The last phase is the Heritage Square and will focus on the Old Post Office Square and Long Shop Museum areas, celebrating Leiston’s rich history. The incentive behind this to get a blend of housing and enterprise space, putting the community at the heart of the town.
